Whoever filed a complaint with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation was spot on. Shorty’s Bar-B-Q in Miami was hit with 55 violations during a Thursday inspection triggered by a complaint and the findings are downright disturbing.Inspectors reported rodent droppings on the floor and on shelves where clean aprons were stored, flying insects landing on chicken wings and bread, food held at unsafe temperatures, and employees failing to wash their hands properly. The inspection also uncovered a dishwashing machine that wasn’t sanitizing properly, mold-like buildup in the ice machine and iced tea dispenser, and filthy, deteriorating kitchen conditions. Fifty-five violations are unacceptable, and customers deserve better.Below is a list of some of their violations.**SHORTY’S BBQ11575 BIRD ROADWESTWOOD LAKES/WEST MIAMI INSPECTION BASED ON COMPLAINTORDERED SHUT 10/2255 VIOLATIONS FOUND“Rodent activity present as evidenced by rodent droppings found.
